";s:4:"text";s:22327:"On the "third day" God provided another sacrifice and his son was restored. Another thing to note is how God reemphasizes Isaac being Abraham's one and only son whom he loves (Genesis 22:2,12,16). Any other “god” that requires things from our hand could not possibly be the Almighty. Consider it as good as done, even if we cannot yet presently see it with our eyes. That ram which was caught in the thicket was Jesus Christ, the seed of Abraham. God told Abraham to go to a mountain. Abraham must have believed God would either provide a substitute sacrifice or would raise Isaac from the dead. God designed sacrifice to be a type, shadow, and similitude of the Father’s great and last sacrifice of His Son and the infinite self-sacrifice offered by the Savior. It is so that God could present a seemingly impossible scenario that would test Abraham’s faith to the max. He put wood on it. Abraham offers a small calf on a platter to his three angelic visitors, who sit at a table on which three loaves are spread out. And so a rabbi read this text as a statement of Abraham's own challenge to YHWH. Do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, because it brings forth death. But an angel spoke to Abraham. 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. "Promise me Isaac," says Abraham, "that you will always do what the Lord asks." 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son. Isaac the only son, first born of Abraham. And as such, He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Abraham loved his son very much. God’s command to sacrifice Isaac was to the ultimate end that Abraham’s faith might be made perfect. This is the God that is utterly perfect. God had promised Abraham: 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. This is because Abraham and Sarah could never bear children in their old age, even if they tried. The timeline begins with Adam in Eden, then on to Noah and the Flood and the birth of Israel through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This interpretation can be supported by symbolism and context such as Abraham sacrificing his son on the third day of the journey (Genesis 22:4), or Abraham taking the wood and putting it on his son Isaac's shoulder (Genesis 22:6). 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 3 For what saith the scripture? And Ishmael represents the works of the law, which is always unsatisfactory. Sacrifice is the death of one thing so something else can have a new life. The ram substitute stands at Abraham’s feet. We can see this because at this point, Isaac was Abraham’s only son. God wanted to test Abraham, so he told him to sacrifice his only son Isaac, we must remember that Isaac was born when Abraham was hundred years old. Jesus Christ is the God of the unchangeable priesthood. We should all believe that we are saved, no matter what. Sarah had a baby boy named Isaac. How can this be? 09th Jan, 1962. So, there was no other solution in Abraham’s mind; no solution other than the gospel: That if God would require this of his hand, God would be forced (by His Word) to raise Isaac up from the dead, in accordance with the covenant. 4 And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. 6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Isaac loses faith in Abraham rather than God when he finds out he will be sacrificed 2.) You could build a tall tower of Babel, and it would all be for nought. Be like Abraham, who did not even consider the deadness of his aged body, nor the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. Therefore, God withheld Abraham’s hand from slaying the boy. The Story Of Abraham. And when Ishmael was born through Hagar according to Sarah’s desire, Sarah turned around dealt harshly with Hagar (Genesis 16:6). 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? More concisely, Abraham had demonstrated to God that he was willing and ready to do as directed. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. This sounds barbaric. It’s as if Isaac’s death isn’t even possible. Abraham loved his son very much.  A perfect sacrifice. These two are contrary and they cannot both receive the same inheritance. We can’t build our way up to God in heaven, nor can we dig ourselves away from God in Hell. Our God is the rock and is not im-pressed one way or another. Sarah. And how could a good God command this abomination? 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Age of Christ—c. The test of Abraham and Isaac found in Genesis 22, including the sacrifice of the ram caught in the thicket, serves as a type of the great and last sacrifice of Jesus Christ. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. “Do not do anything to him. And once Abraham had fully trusted God, in this manner, his work was done. The result of Jesus’s sacrifice means new life for us all. How could a worm ever take hold of this God? Verse 19 is the answer. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. The God that Abraham believes in is The Perfect God. 12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. Remember how particular God was with his covenant? 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. So that Abraham would have perfect knowledge of Christ. Even if Abraham could shoot himself in the foot, so to speak, and slay Isaac; even then, it is impossible for God to fail to deliver on His promise. 2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. Hagar is the bondwoman, and her children are born into bondage (works). 26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Our best works amount to nothing. 26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. But Abraham wanted to obey God. Let us quickly look at Galatians for the official explanation of this allegory: 21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? Jesus and Isaac loved their fathers and obeyed them. Abraham always knew this, and he authenticates the voice of God by his “highness” (omnipotence). The answer is given to us in scripture: comparing spiritual things with spiritual (1 Corinthian 2:13). 5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts. Abraham's faith is called into question 4.) 10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. The angel grabs Abraham’s sword and prevents Abraham from sacrificing his son. But Abraham hearkened unto his wife, and Ishmael was born as a result. And God still did not lie to Abraham. So he provides a substitute, a ram, which shows the true meaning of all authentic sacrifice – we give to God something precious that represents our very selves. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us. He is eternal, our bodies are temporal. Here Isaac is placed on the altar. 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? This is also true because Ishmael was born after the works of the flesh. 35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Do not even consider the sins of the flesh, they are of no consequence. Isaac took some wood. Binding of Isaac...Sacrificial Ram...Then, just as Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, God called out for him to stop. (6) Therefore, the greatest conceivable being exists in reality. Once you have believed on God, you are saved and there is nothing that could undo that. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son. Even in the book of Numbers, Moses made a brazen serpent such that “every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live” (Numbers 21:8). “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:14-15). Which is to say, our salvation is fully complete. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? And because God is the greatest conceivable being, He had already provided all things. (7) But the greatest conceivable being is God (from 1). For it is written: 26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19). Believest thou this? 5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. And all the people shall say, Amen. I am not he. 15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting.
