I was goose hunting yesterday and the action was picking up with several flocks coming from different directions. Why can't the Special Winter Canada Goose Season just be implemented statewide?
Due to the current large population size, the hunting season length for light geese will be the maximum allowed under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (107 days) with liberal bag limits of 25 light geese per day with no possession limit. (The spring 2019 CO concluded April 6, 2019.)
These differences in young production and survival, are key components that drive the status of these three populations of Canada geese.
