The bottle design lends itself to the original Jacob Schweppes bottle from 1783. My opinion is that they have the marketing & design bang on; but what about the taste? Where Schweppes basic gets it TOTALLY right is in its commitment to a limited role that leaves the gin to shine. That aftertaste which lasts for hours and hours – just ruinous. And really rather nice. The gin is where the interesting stuff comes from, let’s be honest. So it’s not quite as nice as Fever Tree, but that’s comparing the two side-by-side — and you absolutely would not be anything other than delighted if somebody gave you this G&T. And quinine is great! I read this all with interest but tbh, there’s nothing there which surprised me i.e. Receive the questionable wisdom and profanic musings of Old Parn direct to your inbox! I am a G&T convert because of this. This tonic adds a delicate hint of cucumber to a G&T and does not overly dominate the drink.
