The two main reasons are: 1) the interior is held together with properly positioned small screws which clamp the incoming wire in place, and 2) there is a non-conductive screw on surround that will prevent adjacent connectors from touching or sparking and shorting out. Nakamichis look better IMO, but I use monoprice for all my connections. It'd be hard for me to purchase again, but I'm weird in that I like things to match.
