They pick up from surprisingly far distance! My colleague looked at me like I was crazy. The sound was crisp, sharp, and lively. Their quality control has not improved. Feels reliable. , Nonetheless, Behringer C2 is still a great choice for live performances. I'll be honest, I've been burned by Behringer crappy gear before. I asked a buddy who is the Choral Director at a major University. Holy mackerel, I'm glad I did! Happy customers, one piece of gear at a time! Hopefully that last as good as they sound. My only minor issue is the plastic stereo bar is a bit flimsy and the fine stand threads are cut into the plastic and may strip easily but the brass adapter compensates nicely. The fact that these mics are substantially less expensive than even a SM57 is icing on the cake. The Behringer C-2 microphones were reasonably sensitive and offered the prospect of good feedback rejection with their pickup pattern. This can be alleviate however by switching on the low-frequency roll-off. Sweetwater advised these, sent 'em fast, and they were/are just the right miss for the job. Sweetwater was very easy to work with. What I wasn't expecting was to have such stellar success in recording far-away sounds from my high-rise condo balcony. I used these on a live recording and they worked very well. Who on earth would think a 60 pair of microphone would be any dang good? NO more Behringer junk for me!! Now, I don't expect a $60 pair of SDC's to compare with a vintage set of Neumann KM84's, so I'm not going to try. Low budget and very good performance. I can't believe these mics! Just got the pair for our gospel group . We set them up fairly close to the kit as well, and they have plenty of headroom when things get loud. I absolutely loved this mic. I've used these on live application and for live recording. I use them for drum overheads and they work fine. The C-2 microphones are bright without being brittle and are very clear, however they do suffer greatly from proximity effect. the C2 is much less peaky and while it has cruddy electronics, so do the apex mics. I haven't noticed any noise only because I'm not trying to record bossa nova or acapella. We use them for overheads in our home studio, and they never fail to impress. I use these mics for vocals and am impressed with the quality. As this is a pair, I can set up to capture sounds in stereo very easily. We also use the Behringer x32 mixer, love this board...we use our ipad to run this board. Nonetheless, Behringer C2 is still a great choice for live performances. Don't be fooled by the size, if you need to record something on the go, these are your go to mics for the price. They were exactly what I needed for two applications; overheads on a drum kit and recording an acoustic guitar. Best part is the fact that it comes with wind screens and the stereo holder! They are small. Love these and will probably purchase 2 more sets because of the versatility! The only thing I wish would be better is the stereo bar forces the cords of the mics to cross way too close and you can't position the mics where you want unless you have 90 degree xlr adaptors.
