One interesting quirk of the Dojo loach is its habit of becoming hyperactive when the weather conditions change, which is thought to be related to fluctuations in barometric pressure. Weather Loaches are a peaceful, active and hardy fish that are often brought as a starter fish for the aquarium. If your loaches are eating a nitrous and healthy amounts and still seems to loose weight it is a good chance it has skinny disease. These loaches should not be kept singly and should be kept in groups of 3 or more. Do not try to introduce these fish into biologically immature tanks. You can use a magnet algae cleaner to keep the glass clear but be careful not to remove the bacteria and biofilm from the viewing panes or tank décor. Most common disease that affects this loach is Ich. Weather loaches are found distributed right across eastern and northeastern Asia, Central China, Japan, Korea, and Hainan. The Java Loach (Pangio oblonga) is also known to tropical fish keeping enthusiasts as the Black Kuhli Loach or “unbanded loach“, the Chocolate Kuhli Loach, Cinnamon Loach and Black Khliwaus. These are a less reliable method for finding information on a given species. On the other hand, its global populations are increasing due to introductions. This is a good sized fish that likes to be kept with 3 or more companions of its own kind. Do they poop? The closer to their natural habitat the less stress the fish will have, making them healthier and happy. Loaches almost always adapt to aquarium foods and are long lived, with many species can live 10 years or more. They are quite lively and active, especially in the evening. Finally I found a 3rd source that said most Dojo loaches will grow to 5-6" in a 30 gallon aquarium and that the small loaches are actually a completely different species of dojo loach in case I wanted on of those and that the fin pattern determined the sex of the loachl I'm so confused even if they aren't - and wanted to see what anybody knows about golden Dojo loaches… The wild form of the Dojo Loach has dark greenish gray to dark brown spots over a yellowish brown, often mottled body and a noticeably paler belly. Loaches are semi-aggressive fish when housed in the aquarium individually, so it is important to maintain each species … loach is available in both its wild form and in a gold variety called the Golden Dojo Loach.
