Recently, this book has been made into a movie. And why was it lifted and taken somewhere. He employs all his relatives, and chops down more and more Truffula trees. The black-and-white contrast between the story's opening landscape in the present day, and this lush Eden, establishes a rigid moral conflict from the start. The Once-ler is captivated by the soft and beautiful tufts of the Truffula trees, and decides to chop down a tree and build a garment called a Thneed out of its tuft. I speak for the trees. The Lorax: Where will they go? It chronicles the plight of the environment  and the Lorax, who "speaks for the trees" and confronts the Once-ler, who causes environmental destruction. The Once-ler describes him as "shortish," "oldish," "brownish," and "mossy," with a bossy voice. The Lorax begins in a post-apocalyptic setting, a ravaged and desolate urban landscape. A young boy visits a strange, isolated man called the "Once-ler", who lives "on the far end of town where the Grickle-grass grows...[on] the Street of the Lifted Lorax" to learn why the area is in such a run-down state. Celebrate Earth Day with Dr. Seuss and the Lorax in this classic picture book about protecting the environment! The accompanying illustration betrays the home of some of the answers: the home of the old Once-ler, who is still alive. In this interpretation, the Lorax represents the environment and those who defend it while the Once-ler represents greedy corporations that are never satisfied with their profits and continue to expand and consume natural resources despite the terrible damage they do to the environment.
