The weather on the day of check ride was not perfect but with the experience, I freshly gained from flying in those situations, I never get nervous or feel stressed. My experience with AFIT was amazing. It is still hard for me to believe that in as little as 2 weeks I went from having zero flight experience to passing my private pilot check ride. The AFIT PPL course was definitely one of the most involved and intense things Ive done in my life. To give you an idea, on one day we flew close to 7 hours (long break in between). If you are tired of bumbling to the finish line, and you can afford to take time to focus exclusively on the miracle and responsibility of general aviationAFIT is a wonderful partner!! Come the day of the check ride, I was nervous but felt I was equipped to give it my best shot and definitely way more prepared than my first day at AFIT. This hard-earned handshake with my Examiner, Mark, is a proud moment; the final milestone in an unlikely journey. Even with the added stress of the California fires, Oleg adapted the training and made sure I got all my hours in. Flying involves a lot more skills than just time in the plane, and our debriefings and discussions proved the wealth of wisdom Andy has accumulated over his decades in aviation. It was so apparent that his priority was to make sure I completed the program successfully which was very appreciated. Thank you for everything! When you work with Paul there is no question that he truly cares about his students and their success.The course itself is extremely challenging. In 6 weeks with the school, I had only flown 12 times, with a student:instructor ratio of at least 6:1 and a student:aircraft ratio approaching 10:1, repeating lessons that I had done previously, and making absolutely no forward progress towards my cross-country solos and getting lined up for a checkride. He wouldnt hesitate to take extra time out of his day to spend longer time to help me fly or help me understand something I couldnt quite grasp. Youve delivered on all of your promises, in-spite of my shortcomings. John really challenged me to go beyond my requirements and has made me a much more competent and safe pilot. During the first couple days of the program there is a lot of information to take in, but by the time Andy gave me the go ahead for the first solo I felt very comfortable and safe in the plane. They issue all the required Boeing manuals via . Paul seemed to stand out to me. We started working immediately. Ruben made possible what I thought was impossible to achieve. Get Started Now. In an accelerated course like this, the days feel like weeks but the weeks fly by in what feels like minutes. After years of working toward my private pilots license (and having invested thousands of dollars in another finish up group who could not deliver what they promised), you both helped me to earn my certificate in November. I highly recommend Greg as a CFI with the AFIT program. The highlight for me was landing at Sacramento International Airport at 10.30pm in our Diamond DA20, on final next to a 747 on a parallel runway. Prerequisite: FAA Private Pilot Helicopter License. We progressed at my pace and we didnt attempt a solo until we were both very confident in my abilities. This isnt to bash Riddle, but to uplift AFIT, so if you are searching for a super flight school with budget financing, great instruction and outstanding customer service, l highly recommend AFIT. Andymy instructor, did an amazing job making sure I felt comfortable and went out ofhisway to keep me focused and on track to graduate with my license. I cleared 8 days for nothing but training and scheduled the check ride for the 9. day. After deciding to pursue a private pilot license at age 58, I discovered that for professionals with busy schedules the process can sometimes take years. This technique is so much better than just following a script or syllabus. There are multiple ways and approaches one can take to earn a pilots license but my personal recommendation is to knock it out. Im glad to say that Erwin game me the proper training and set me in the right direction so that when Im in the sky I will be setting the example for others that have had instructors that lead them wrong. 5 hours of solo flight must cover cross-country, and a solo flight that covers 150 nautical miles is also required.
